Welcome to the Twisted Traditions site.

I am passionate about all forms of traditional knitting, Fair Isle, Aran and Gansey. I have produced these original designs with the classic shapes and patterns of yesterday, in the colours of today. Look for the odd chest motif in the Fair Isles, a trademark of Twisted Traditions!

Because I have knit these garments myself, I have kept the knitter in mind. I have ensured that the patterns are simple and easy to follow, but best of all, fun to create. Each pattern includes full colour charts, schematic and comprehensive written instructions and detailed pictures.

These sweaters will not date and will become the favorite sweater you will want to wear for years. They are meant to last, and with minimal shaping, are comfortable as well as flattering.

It is my hope that you try your hand at traditional techniques, and discover the pleasures of working with colour. Many of the designs are aimed at both the experienced and novice knitter.

I hope you have as much fun deciding which design to do first as I have had in creating them.
